About

A reading spectacle in which Stefan Jürgens performs Bram Stoker's vampire novel 'Dracula' as a melodramatic literary performance, blurring the boundaries between reading and acting. Jürgens, an actor and musician known from television and theatre work, combines speech, music and play into a dense, emotional experience. The story follows Jonathan Harker, who travels to Transylvania in 1875 to complete a property transaction for Count Dracula and unknowingly opens the door to an ancient, dreadful secret. An orchestral soundtrack with music by Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff and Debussy as well as Jürgens's own live piano compositions underscores the atmospheric journey into the dark heart of the Dracula story.
