About
A lecture on textile art under National Socialism, looking at pictorial tapestries and wall hangings from the Leipzig Grassi Fairs between 1933 and 1942. It takes its starting point from the exhibition „Formen der Anpassung, Kunsthandwerk und Design im Nationalsozialismus“ at the GRASSI Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Leipzig and sheds light on works by various artists of that period, which have mostly been missing from art history and biographies so far. Applied art, arts and crafts were instrumentalised for spreading ideological content, and pictorial tapestries were promoted especially as testimonies of traditional craftsmanship. The speaker is Stefanie Seeberg from Leipzig.
