Women of Rebetiko: songs of women, with Lidya Durmazgüler.

Women of Rebetiko is an evening of live music, storytelling and archival research in the cosy foyer of SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA. The project follows the songs and stories of women whose lives were shaped by migration, displacement and profound historical change, and who were often pushed to the margins of the male-dominated history of Rebetiko. From the old cabarets of Istanbul and the music-filled tables of Izmir to the taverns of Piraeus, grief and joy meet in an intimate performance. Performing with song and narration are Lidya Durmazgüler and her band, with delicious meze plates served all evening. The event is part of the HANE Salon series of live concerts, listening sessions and culinary interventions.
