About

An evening talk at Westminster Abbey in which Greg Jenner explores how celebrity, fame and posthumous glory have shaped who and how we choose to remember. Amid the memorials and graves in the nave of the nation's church, he will look at how the reputations of famous people across the ages have been built and contested in life and death. Drawing on individuals buried and remembered inside the Abbey, he will reflect on national memory, the evolution of 'necrotourism' and the history of celebrity pilgrimage. The talk is inspired by his book Dead Famous (2020), and Jenner is a British public historian, author and broadcaster known for the BBC historical comedy You're Dead to Me and for his work on Horrible Histories.
