About
A major exhibition at Tate Modern dedicated to the artist Ana Mendieta, presenting many of her iconic works alongside newly remastered films, early paintings, and late sculptural pieces, many never before seen in the UK. The Cuban-born American artist, active in the 1970s and early 80s, is best known for her Silueta Series, exploring the presence and absence of the human body using natural materials including fire, water and flowers, recorded as photographs and films. Her work posed profound questions around displacement and identity that remain highly relevant today. The show, the first in-depth UK exhibition of her work in over ten years, also continues outside the gallery walls, embracing her deep relationship with the natural world.
