About

Areez Katki is a residency at Gasworks, running from 30 September to 15 December 2026. The artist Areez Katki, from Aotearoa New Zealand, works with hand-embroidered drawings on found cloth, expanding into installation, sound, video and performance. During the residency, they will continue developing a new performance and moving-image work, An Internal Dissenter Who Remains in Relation, which explores how a body holds space for the sacred and the profane. Using their position as a Zoroastrian priest, they will cultivate rituals that mobilise the queer body and propose different modes of knowledge transmission.
