About
Animol is a film set behind the walls of a young offender institution, where new arrival Troy is thrust into a brutal world of gangs, loyalty and violence. It is the directorial debut of actor Ashley Walters, from a story by Nick Love. An unspoken bond develops between Troy and a fellow inmate, which becomes a dangerous vulnerability for them both. Critics
7.0Good
Critics praise the empathetic direction, expressive lead performance and emotional vulnerability at the film's heart. They fault occasional over-earnestness, an idealistic take on redemption, and a brutal, tough-to-watch setting.
