About

Art, Poetry and the Great War is a talk at Guildhall Library. Tate Lecturer Val Woodgate explores how artists with direct experience of the First World War depicted the conflict in powerful and often deeply disturbing works, despite strict official censorship. The talk also looks at how each side attempted to come to terms with the aftermath of war in the years following the Armistice. It lasts one hour and can be attended in person or online via YouTube.
