Talks and readings
Talk on Beryl Gilroy's memoir Black Teacher, 50 years on.
About
A talk marking fifty years of Beryl Gilroy's memoir 'Black Teacher'. Gilroy, a pioneering teacher, writer and psychotherapist, became only the second black headteacher in London when appointed head of Beckford School in West Hampstead in 1969. The talk explores her archive at the British Library, from educational materials to unpublished writings, and her child-centred, collaborative approach to learning. Admission is free.
