About

Boys Who Dance is a work-in-progress scratch performance of a new play, running for one hour and recommended for ages 14 and up. It was written by Grant Corr and is produced by Mai Elphinstone and Raquel Cipriano, with development guidance and facilitation from R Creatives, an organisation supporting emerging playwrights, and dramaturgical advice from Melissa Syversen. Set in modern-day East Belfast, it follows Val Fitzpatrick, who fled Afghanistan decades ago and runs a pet shop with two teenage assistants, whose ordered life is thrown into chaos when her nephew Rafi appears desperate for refuge. Against rising anti-migrant sentiment and mob mentality, the play explores the human lives these events affect, with funding from Arts Council England.
