About

Girls is an award-winning play performed at the Young Vic in London. Ewa Dina, winner of the 2026 JMK Award, makes her Young Vic debut directing Theresa Ikoko's play, about the 2014 kidnapping of hundreds of Nigerian girls by the extremist group Boko Haram. Best friends Tisana, Haleema, and Ruha must rely on each other to survive, while fear and religious differences strain their friendship and hope for escape. Based on horrifying true events, it is a powerful story of friendship, survival, and the impossible choices we're faced with.
