About

Dur-Dur Band International is a London-based eight-piece Somali funk band, said to be the only Somali live music band in the world. It brings together original founding members of the 1980s Mogadishu funk, disco and soul band Dur Dur, revived by Mr Liban Noah. The original band soundtracked the nightlife of Mogadishu before Somalia's civil war forced it to disband and scatter abroad, and the musicians have faced persecution for their art. The regrouped band plays funky oldies and contemporary compilations of the best in Somali funk, and has toured across Europe.
