Emilia Märtensson & Matt Robinson: lyrical jazz quintet.
- Vortex Jazz Club
- £18
About
A jazz concert of two sets at the Vortex Jazz Club, part of the EFG London Jazz Festival. Vocalist Emilia Märtensson and pianist Matt Robinson, a long-standing duo known for lyrical songwriting, improvisation and contemporary European jazz, are joined for this performance by saxophonist Adam Waldmann, bassist Max Luthert and drummer Will Glaser. The quintet expands the duo's intimate voice-piano music into a richly textured ensemble balancing openness, lyricism and collective improvisation. Märtensson, a Parliamentary Jazz Award winner whom The Observer called 'the new face of British jazz', and Robinson, known for his work with Snowpoet, draw inspiration from European duos such as Sidsel Endresen & Bugge Wesseltoft and Norma Winstone & John Taylor.
