About

The Festival of Britain Podcast premiere is a free celebration marking the 75th anniversary of the Festival of Britain and the end of a project in Poplar. The art collective The People Speak will present the podcast they made over the summer, five episodes of interviews with local residents, historians, writers, social housing providers, architects, curators and artists. Each episode traces the social and historical context of post-war Britain, from the Festival and the rise of social housing to work, culture and life in the East End today. The event also offers interactive exhibitions, a youth-created virtual reality game, poems, 50's inspired jewellery, live music and stories from 1951.
