About
An exhibition at Stanley Picker Gallery that turns the space into a setting for making, gathering and performance around the 1976 Lucas Plan, a radical proposal by workers at Lucas Industries for socially useful production, and the play "The Participation Waltz" developed with Lucas workers by Broadside Mobile Workers Theatre. It is created by Sophie Huckfield & Company with Production Designer Rosanna Vize. The show is divided into two 'Acts': one set in the Lucas corporate offices with archival materials, the other the backstage of a working theatre with a recreation of the Broadside Mobile Workers Theatre stage and original and reimagined props. Talks, performances and collaborative activities throughout revisit this history with members of Broadside Mobile Workers Theatre and Lucas Workers sharing their stories, with scripts rewritten, objects remade and the play restaged.
