About
The film follows Yuri, a boy who lives in Cité Gagarine, a vast housing project in Ivry-sur-Seine on the outskirts of Paris opened in the 1960s by the Russian cosmonaut after whom both the building and the boy are named. Now in disrepair, the building is to be torn down, but it still hosts residents unhappy at having to leave. Yuri figures out a way to stay beyond the council-mandated evacuation order and creates his own orbital spacecraft within it. It is the mesmerising debut of directors Fanny Liatard and Jeremy Trouilh, a poetic rather than angry view of estates.

Critics
7.2Very good
Critics praise the directors' assured, poetic debut, blending gentle magic realism with themes of community and displacement, and the lead's tender performance. Little is faulted, though the sadness of loss gives the film a bittersweet, unresolved quality.
