The Garden Cinema, Parker Street 39-41, WC2B 5PQ London, Holborn
About
After Utopia: The Strugatsky Brothers on Film is a film programme inspired by the pioneering science fiction of the Strugatsky Brothers, who reigned over Soviet science fiction for more than three decades. Pushkin House and Klassiki present the series, running from 6 to 13 November with four screenings and a live discussion at Pushkin House. It explores how renowned Soviet and Russian filmmakers, including Andrei Tarkovsky, Aleksandr Sokurov, and Aleksei German, drew on the Strugatskys as they explored the slow collapse of twentieth-century utopia. The programme presents acclaimed screen adaptations including Stalker, Days of Eclipse, Dead Mountaineer's Hotel, and Hard to Be a God, with screenings split between the Garden Cinema and the ICA.
