Dana Awartani: revived mosaics and paintings on paper.

An exhibition of new work by artist Dana Awartani, titled 'Give and be generous with all your hand possesses', held at Lisson Gallery in London. It is her first exhibition with the gallery, presenting floor-based sculptures and paintings on paper. Four installations continue her series of handmade mosaic floors, restoring now lost decorative mosaics from sites of worship or architectural importance that were destroyed in recent years. Working with stonemasons and artisans of Afghan, Pakistani and Syrian descent near Riyadh, she recasts geometric patterns in sun-dried clay as an act of preserving endangered cultural heritage in the wider Arab world.
