About

Hairspray is an award-winning musical comedy staged at the New Wimbledon Theatre. Based on John Waters' 1988 film, it follows Tracy Turnblad, a teenager in Baltimore who dreams of dancing on a local television programme, and a chain of events that changes the show and the city forever. With music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, this touring revival is choreographed by Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie, with Neil Hurst returning as Edna Turnblad. The show features hit songs such as Good Morning Baltimore, Welcome to the 60s and You Can't Stop the Beat.
