About

A research seminar titled "Scraps into Delicacies: Sustainable and Cultural Food Practices of Diasporic Communities in London", part of the Homelands research seminar series. It is run by Emily Falconer of the University of Westminster's School of Social Sciences together with Cavendish Living Lab community connectors Mariam Selim and Yumeng Yang, in partnership with the university's Centre for Social Justice Research. Drawing on focus groups with Korean, Caribbean, Italian, Chinese, Alevi and Jewish communities in London, it explores food practices that promote sustainability through low-waste cooking, preservation and adaptation, and argues that food is also a site of identity, belonging and exclusion in a global city. Attendees from outside the university are asked to reserve a spot by emailing the organisers.
