About
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is a drama from 1975, directed by Milos Forman and starring Jack Nicholson, Louise Fletcher, Brad Dourif, Danny DeVito and Christopher Lloyd. Adapted from Ken Kesey's novel, it follows Randle McMurphy, a convict who feigns mental illness hoping a transfer to a psychiatric hospital will bring early release. He clashes with the rigid Nurse Ratched, who dislikes his disruptive — though he'd say liberating — effect on the ward. Forman's naturalistic direction and inspired casting let the film succeed both as an anti-authoritarian parable and as an affecting reminder of past psychiatric practices.

Critics
8.0Very good
Critics praise Nicholson's charismatic lead performance, the strong ensemble acting, and the film's power as an anti-institutional tragicomedy. Some fault it for schematic messaging, underdeveloped supporting characters, and a lack of cinematic excitement beyond the story and acting.
