About

The Art of Jazz Exhibition is a free display of photographs celebrating the music photographer Freddy Warren, shown in the Rose Cafe. Warren captured Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in the 1950s and '60s, freezing legends like Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington with his lens. After he died in a house fire in 2010, his nephew Simon Whittle rescued thousands of his photographs and has worked to preserve and share them, with images since appearing on record sleeves, in The Guardian and permanently at Ronnie Scott's. Warren's work hangs alongside pieces by a group of artists celebrating jazz and its enduring relevance.
