About

The Bridge is a play at the Bush Theatre, performed and co-written by Palestinian actor and comedian Alaa Shehada. It follows Alaa as he carries a leaking container of olive oil from his mother's home in Jenin to his aunt in Amman, crossing the bridge in the Jordan Valley, the only way Palestinians in the West Bank may leave or return. It mixes storytelling, stand-up and physical comedy, directed and co-written by Sam Beale, telling a human tale of family, connection, hope and joy against the impacts of colonialism and the broken promises of the British in Palestine.
