About

The Pianist is a stage play receiving its world premiere, adapted from Wladyslaw Szpilman's internationally bestselling memoir of one of the twentieth century's most remarkable true stories. It is adapted and directed by Thom Southerland, with music by Szpilman himself heard on stage for the first time, in new orchestrations by Simon Lee. A cast of virtuoso actor-musicians conjures the golden age of Jewish Warsaw, its concert halls, candlelit cafés and irrepressible spirit. At its heart it is a love letter to culture and to the power of creativity to outlast history's most turbulent chapters.
