Park Theatre, Clifton Terrace, N4 3JP London, Finsbury Park

About
A new play telling the extraordinary true story of Deaf pioneer Laurent Clerc, the Father of the Deaf, who came to America from France in 1816 and helped build the first American school for Deaf children. It is performed through spectacular visual language, four modalities of sign language, spoken English, French and creative captions. The story follows Clerc, alongside Reverend Thomas Gallaudet, as he builds the school, then must choose between the institution he devoted his life to and the future he envisions after falling in love with a Deaf woman. A funny and moving exploration of love, ambition, identity, belonging and the cost of change.
