About
"Asher Liftin: Recent Work" is an exhibition of new paintings and drawings by the Brooklyn-based artist, with an opening reception from 6 to 8 PM. It is curated by Arne Glimcher, who also contributes a written introduction in the gallery's 125 Free Press publication, and follows Liftin's Summer 2026 Artist Residency at The Watermill Center. Liftin uses his own photography as source material, translating images refracted in a glass eye into handmade renderings built from grids of acrylic ink broken into multicolored dots in cyan, yellow, magenta, and black. His works evoke pointillism and divisionism, sitting on the border between the human and the mechanical, and reveal the hidden processes underlying seeing.
