Breaks: A Solo Performance by Jessica Cook (Night 1) is a solo dance and performance work presented at Roulette in Brooklyn. Choreographer and performer Jessica Cook shares new material developed as part of her Roulette Commission. The piece is a physical exploration of nonsense-making through fragmentation, compression of sound, and movement scores, using improvisation scores paired with constructed sound costumes and "toys" created by the artist. Cook is a Brooklyn-based choreographer who has worked for over two decades, combining movement, sound making, and sculpture in absurdist and strained worlds.
