About
DOUGLASS: THE RECKONING: A WORKING PROCESS is a performance project in development centered on Frederick Douglass and the unfinished argument over American democracy, shared with the public across two town halls. It is conceived and directed by Charlotte Brathwaite and created in collaboration with June Cross, Nia O. Witherspoon, Alexis Marcelo, artists from IMPACT Repertory Theatre, and students from The New School's School of Drama. Audiences are invited into the development of the new work, exploring Douglass's words alongside questions of freedom, citizenship, belonging, disagreement, and what democracy asks of us now. It is free and open to the public, with RSVP required and light snacks provided.
