About
An exhibition of paintings and works on paper by the Abstract Expressionist painter and portraitist Elaine de Kooning, spanning four decades of her career from 1948 to 1988. Berry Campbell presents the show, which ranges from early abstractions to portraits and dynamic depictions of sporting events, with many rarely seen works on display for the first time since the artist's death in 1989. Highlights include the monumental abstraction California (1958-1960), works from her John F. Kennedy series, and Bacchus #20-G (1983). The exhibition opens with a reception and is accompanied by an 80-page catalogue with an essay by Cathy Curtis.
