About
An exhibition of more than 200 objects by some 30 Jewish women artists of the Wiener Werkstätte, the multidisciplinary Viennese collective active from 1903 to 1932. It sheds light on the role Jewish women played as artists, designers, patrons, and tastemakers shaping modernist aesthetics in early 20th-century Vienna and beyond, and marks the first in-depth presentation of these women. Special emphasis is placed on Vally Wieselthier, in ceramics, and Felice Rix-Ueno, in textile design. The show was organized by the Jewish Museum, New York, in cooperation with MAK – Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna, and is curated by Kristina Parsons with curatorial consultancy by Anne-Katrin Rossberg.
