Transatlantik II with Jardineros, Tree Trini Collective, DJ Sabine Blaizin
Public Records, Butler Street 233, 11217, Brooklyn
About
Transatlantik II is a night of live music and DJ sets at Public Records in Brooklyn, the first of two evenings exploring the syncretic thought and spirit forms of the Black Atlantic. It features Jardineros, a trio of Cuban improvisers (Hery Paz, Román Díaz, Francisco Mela) working within and beyond Cuban musical and religious traditions and contemporary jazz; Tree Trini Collective (Fay Victor, Lyndon Achee, Jessie Cox), a steelpan-centered trio drawing on the experimental history of Trinidad and Tobago's music; and DJ Sabine Blaizin of Oyasound Productions, who spins Afro-diasporic rhythms and electronic music between sets. All ticket proceeds are donated to Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees, a Brooklyn organization supporting Haitians affected by the termination of Temporary Protection Status. The event is part of an ongoing FourOneOne series on creolization as a living process.
