About

Manuel Valera: New Cuban Express is a live concert of Afro-Cuban jazz at LunÀtico in Brooklyn. The ensemble is led by Cuban-born, Grammy-nominated pianist and composer Manuel Valera, whose lineup this night includes Samuel Torres on percussion, Vinícius Gomes on guitar, Raul Reyes on bass, and Jimmy Macbride on drums. The New Cuban Express fuses the rhythms and melodies of Cuban music with modern jazz, blending Cuban rhythms with jazz, funk, and R&B influences. The band performs two sets and is celebrated for powerful live shows that have made a mark on the modern Latin jazz landscape.
