This is a symphony concert by the Orchestra of the Zurich Opera House at the Opernhaus Zürich, part of a Prokofiev cycle. Gianandrea Noseda conducts, and cellist Sol Gabetta appears as soloist in Prokofiev's Sinfonia Concertante for cello and orchestra. The programme also includes Swiss composer Dieter Ammann's 2002 orchestral piece «Core» and Prokofiev's Third Symphony in C minor, in which the dark mood of his opera «The Fiery Angel» is clearly reflected. Prokofiev reworked the cello concerto at the suggestion of the cellist Mstislav Rostropovich.
