At the Zurich Opera House, the late-Romantic triptych «Rachmaninow - Die drei Opern» brings together the one-act operas «Aleko», «Skupoi Rytsar» and «Francesca da Rimini». The three works were written by the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff and are placed here in a gripping tension with one another. Power, control and destructive greed are at the centre, along with a love that overcomes guilt and death. Dmitri Tcherniakov stages a unsparing study of human abysses, while Gianandrea Noseda takes the musical direction.
