About

An exhibition of a material sample of ArboSat-1, a palm-sized piece of densified wood, accompanied by a film. The project is run by Swiss Wood Solutions AG together with the π Innovation Hub of ETH Zürich | Space. The densified wood could make satellite construction more sustainable: it has a load capacity similar to aluminium, is lighter, and burns up completely on re-entry without harmful residues. In November 2026, ArboSat-1 will fly to the International Space Station, where it will be exposed to space conditions for six months.
