Kammermusik@ZKO — Elegien der Stille

A chamber music concert titled 'Kammermusik@ZKO — Elegien der Stille', devoted to a sound space of silence between prayer, memory and farewell. Three works sound like quiet farewell prayers: John Zorn's 'Kol Nidre für Streichquartett d-Moll', Dmitri Shostakovich's 'Streichquartett Nr. 15 es-Moll, op. 144', his last work in this genre, and Ludwig van Beethoven's 'Cavatina: Adagio molto espressivo' from the 'Streichquartett Nr. 13 B-Dur, op. 130'. The programme is performed by the ensemble of Daniel Bard (violin), Daria Zappa Matesic (violin), Ryszard Groblewski (viola) and Guillermo Ortega Santos (violoncello). Intensely melancholic and pervaded by deep emotion, the music gives a voice to the unspeakable.
