Out of Service? - Schweizer Sakralarchitektur im Wandel
ZAZ Zentrum Architektur Zürich
About
Out of Service? – Schweizer Sakralarchitektur im Wandel is a special exhibition at ZAZ Zentrum Architektur Zürich. It is an exhibition of ZAZ BELLERIVE, curated by Fabian Ruppanner and Nora Hochuli, and shows with historical and contemporary projects from Switzerland how many different paths of transformation for sacred buildings are possible – from rebuilt church pews to demolition. As fewer and fewer people in Switzerland are touched by faith and the church, many once busy houses of worship stand increasingly empty, and parishes are looking for alternative real estate strategies. The exhibition aims to spark a collective discourse on the change and preservation of sacred buildings so that their architectural and cultural value is preserved.
