About

A special exhibition at Museum Berlin-Karlshorst. The museum is showing it together with the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War in Kyiv, which helped develop it in 2016, on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the German invasion of the Soviet Union. At its heart are the letters last collected from the post office in Kamianets-Podilskyi, which were never delivered because of the outbreak of war, were seized by the German occupation administration and reached Kyiv by way of a postal museum in Vienna. Selected letters convey the emotional worlds of Red Army soldiers and of the city's inhabitants in the first days of the invasion, and the new presentation has been expanded with the State Historical Museum Kamianets-Podilskyi to include new findings on the city's history.
