Deutsches Design Museum, Uhlandstraße 185, Charlottenburg
Der Eintritt ist frei
About
A double exhibition at the Deutsches Design Museum placing Bauhaus masterpieces from the Ulrich Fiedler Collection in dialogue with works by the Berlin office Redesigndeutschland. Marking the centenary of the Bauhaus building's opening in Dessau in 1926 and the founding of Redesigndeutschland in 2001, the show presents ceramics, metalwork and early wooden furniture from the Bauhaus workshops in Weimar as well as the earliest examples of Marcel Breuer's tubular steel furniture in their original condition. These icons of modernism are juxtaposed with works by Redesigndeutschland, including Arbeitsplatz 01, the prefabricated HAUSBAU, the RDD Spiritual Zentrum presented as an idea-ruin, the RDD Grammatik and the new RDD Zeitrechnung. The loans are provided by Galerie Ulrich Fiedler with financial support from the MOEBEL HORZON Kulturfonds, Vaduz; admission is free.
