About
The Beobachtungsnacht (observation night) is a trip to the Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte observatory on the Insulaner hill in Schöneberg to explore the night sky over Berlin. It is hosted by the observatory; depending on the weather, visitors can observe double stars, star clusters, planetary nebulae and even galaxies – through the large »Bamberg-Refraktor« telescope or smaller telescopes on the roof. A guided tour explains the celestial bodies currently visible. If the sky is overcast or it rains, the focus shifts to technical aspects and the observatory's history; the event takes place in any weather.
