A lecture in the Kavalierflügel of Schloss Glienicke about Prince Wilhelm of Prussia, the Emperor's eldest grandson. The speaker is Jörg Kirschstein, head of the Neues Palais at the SPSG. Born in 1906, the prince was seen as a beacon of hope in monarchist circles after his grandfather and father fled into exile in 1918, and he was extremely popular. When he died in 1940 after being wounded in the war, 50,000 people came to his funeral in Potsdam, which angered the Nazi regime and led to members of the Hohenzollern family no longer being deployed at the front.
