About
The Berlin State Library hosts a commemorative evening marking the award of the Nobel Prize in Literature sixty years ago to Nelly Sachs and S. J. Agnon. After a welcome by director general Achim Bonte and greetings, literary scholar Lina Barouch, writer Aris Fioretos and Thomas Sparr discuss the paths of Jewish literature. An introduction is given by Caroline Jessen of the Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture – Simon Dubnow, while cantor Assaf Levitin accompanies the evening musically at the piano with Naaman Wagner. The evening also commemorates the November pogroms of 1938 and Agnon's publisher Salman Schocken.
