About
#diewelle is a play about a school experiment showing how easily people slip into a dangerous group. A history teacher wants to prove to her students that what happened when the Nazis came to power could happen again today, so she runs classroom exercises that the Nazis also used to gain power: a flag, a salute of respect, and punishments. The experiment works, but grows ever more radical and spirals out of control until it becomes dangerous. The GRIPS version and translation are by Jochen Strauch, based on motifs from the novel „Die Welle“ (The Wave) by Morton Rhue (Todd Strasser); a discussion with the Mobile Beratung gegen Rechtsextremismus follows the performance.
