Else Ury (1871 – 1943) und Berlin
Dorotheenstädtische Buchhandlung, Turmstraße 5, 10559 Berlin, Moabit
About
A talk about the writer Else Ury, the “Nesthäkchen author” who set most of her works in Berlin. In it, Hannelore Kempin traces the little-known novel “Wie einst im Mai” from 1930. She conveys urban history, biographical information and Jewish family history, and describes a changing image of women. In this way Ury’s children’s and young adult books also become a portrait of middle-class life in Berlin during the imperial era and the Weimar Republic.
