About
"Fabian. Der Gang vor die Hunde" is a stage production at the RambaZamba Theater based on Erich Kästner's big city novel, directed by Jacob von Wienskowski, formerly Jacob Höhne. Kästner's 1933 novel paints a portrait of Berlin in the late Weimar Republic, a city rife with political radicalization and moral decay, where the young Fabian, an ironic observer, is swept away by the whirlwind of the big city and ultimately perishes in solitude. The RambaZamba Theater does not let Fabian wander alone through the city: a group of outsiders gathers to discuss the fragility of morality, empathy, and resistance amid today's crises through their own writings and drag show acts, accompanied by the thumping beats of the house band "21 downbeat". The result is a shimmering cityscape of Berlin that likely can only be experienced in this form at the RambaZamba Theater.
