About
"GEORG KREISLER: UNHEILBAR GESUND" is a music and cabaret programme at Theater im Palais dedicated to the Austrian songwriter Georg Kreisler. Carl Martin Spengler (acting, vocals) and pianist Jürgen Beyer devote themselves to the artist who shaped Berlin's cultural life for ten years. The programme traces Kreisler's life: his birth in Vienna, his teenage escape to the USA, his breakthrough in New York and his return to an Austria that had become foreign to him. It honours his output of more than 500 songs as well as novels, essays, short stories, plays and operas, which was that of a literary-musical genius beyond cabaret or chansons; the book and direction are by Barbara Abend, the musical arrangement by Ute Falkenau.
