About
“Im Blick der Anderen. In the View of Others: Berlin. The International Discourse on European Postwar Modernism” is a two-day conference with talks, discussions, lecture performances and a film programme. It takes place as part of the exhibition “Metaxy : Zwischen Zerstörung und Wiederaufbau” at the Kunstsammlung der Akademie der Künste. Behind it is a research group of Dr. Sandra Wagner-Conzelmann, Dr. Thomas Flierl, Dr. Paul Sigel and Robert K. Huber in cooperation with the Akademie der Künste's architecture section. The conference examines the international media reception of postwar modernism during the Cold War, starting from reports on the Karl-Marx-Allee in former East Berlin and the buildings of the 1957 Interbau in the west of the city, and presents findings from research in ten countries.
