About
A two-day symposium accompanying the retrospective and publication „In weiter Ferne, so nah!“ deepens the themes of the film series through illustrated lectures, exclusive film screenings and workshop reports. The series is curated by Ralph Eue, Brigitte Mayr and Michael Omasta; on this first day, speakers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany present their current research perspectives, moderated by Tereza Nekulová. Contributions include Tereza Frodlová on avant-garde perspectives in interwar films, Wolfgang Jacobsen on Hans Feld and the exile journal „Kulturní most“, and Rastislav Steranka on resistance in Slovak fiction film 1945–1989. Participation is free of charge; registration by email by 6 November 2026 is requested, and the lectures are in German and English.
