About
In the Roter Salon at the Volksbühne, a showcase by the forum of the Internationales Kurzfilmfestival Berlin is dedicated to filmmaker Darlene Naponse and her practice of land-based filmmaking. Starting from Anishinaabe perspectives on land as a web of relationships that includes everything over, under and around us, it asks what it means to make films that tell not of a land but from it. Using earlier works such as $4 INDIAN, WAITING FOR THE ICE TO MELT and CYCLIC ROOTS as well as excerpts from AKI (2025), the event traces more than two decades of Indigenous filmmaking. The conversation is moderated by Jason Ryle.
