KURT TUCHOLSKY: GEGEN EINEN OZEAN PFEIFT MAN NICHT AN

"KURT TUCHOLSKY: GEGEN EINEN OZEAN PFEIFT MAN NICHT AN" is a staged musical portrait of the writer Kurt Tucholsky. It presents the journalistic-literary campaign of the "little fat Berliner who wanted to avert a catastrophe with his typewriter" (Erich Kästner). Tucholsky was a social critic and womanizer, satirist and idealist who, with almost clairvoyant acuity, saw Germany sliding into catastrophe and warned of the looming dangers years before Hitler came to power. With his texts and the music of his era, the show paints the picture of a Berliner who threw himself with equal passion into political debates and into the pleasure-seeking life of the Weimar Republic, and whose writings have lost none of their relevance even 100 years after publication.
